Re: The build date project
Just noticed....Anyone else realize that it appears there were dedicated assembly lines in 1972 at the Flint plant? One for trucks (2F3 and 2F7 serial numbers) and another assembly line for Blazers and Suburbans (2F1 and 2F3 serial numbers).
But it appears that in 1971 the two lines did all models--trucks, blazers, and suburbans. EDIT: On second thought, maybe the above is not 100% true. The 2F1 truck in post 235 disproves my theory. _______________________________________________ 72 chevy 2J140304 = 02/17/72 - 02/29/72 (post 298) 70 chevy 0S101702 = 9/69 (post 298) 71 chevy 1J603903 =08/06/70 - 08/31/70 (post 298) 70 chevy 0J167591 = TBD (post 298) the last 0J on our list currently. 68 GMC ZB19574 = 04/01/68 - 04/10/68 (post 298) Last edited by 402Bowtie; 12-15-2021 at 01:55 AM. |

Has me curious...Wondering if any patterns will develop. 70 GMC AZ58225 = 7/70 (post 299) on the paper you can see a 7 for build month. 70 Blazer 0S118657 = post-10/10/69 (post 299, Blazer) 10/10 engine build date 72 GMC 2Z503349 = pre-11/19/71 (post 299) Last edited by 402Bowtie; 12-17-2021 at 06:19 PM. |

If that was a common occurrence, that blows a hole in how I have been calculating many of the build dates. 68 chevy 8A134633 = 01/10/68 - 01/31/68 (post 301) 72 chevy 2S186001 = 05/01/72 -05/16/72 (post 301) Last edited by 402Bowtie; 12-18-2021 at 03:28 PM. |

2A501474 = 9/71 (post 302) 68 chevy 8A163982 = TBD (post 302) currently the last 8A truck on our list 70 chevy 0Z122653 = 11/12/69 (post 302) 69 chevy 9Z873496 = 06/24/69 (post 302) 175th day of 1969. Similar to post 290. I read a thread where someone suggested "DD" stands for "delivery date." The way the plate is stamped, the factory would have had to have stamped it (unless the dealership re-riveted it with correct rivets?), so I'm counting it as a build date until someone more knowledgeable can explain the process. 72 Blazer 2F181311 = 6/72 (post 302, Blazer) Last edited by 402Bowtie; 12-18-2021 at 04:00 PM. |

Re: The build date project
In updating my list on post 50 today, I realized we are limited to 50,000 characters per post. Therefore, I have split my list into two lists: GMC's on post 63 and Chevy's on post 64. Both are updated through post 302.
Tyler--you'll be running into the same problem soon too. FYI (Edit: on second thought, you may be ok for a while. I think my hyperlinks are eating up my 50k-character allowance.) __________________________________ 69 chevy 9A841095 = 01/01/69 - 01/16/69 = (post 303) 72 Blazer 2F132X76 = pre-12/27/71 (post 303, Blazer) 71 chevy 1J636456 = 5/71 (post 303) 72 Chevy 2S150971 = 01/11/72 - 01/24/72 (post 303) 72 Blazer 2F177399 = 6/72 (post 303, Blazer) Last edited by 402Bowtie; 12-20-2021 at 02:52 PM. |
