How rare is Factory A/C on a 67 swb?
Found a 67 short bed truck im interested in and will be checking it out in person to make sure its not a rust bucket, but so far what i've seen as far as pics is its not to bad of shape, but definitely not the prettiest truck right now.
Anyway, some of the factory options are big back window, 327 engine, wood bed floor and factory A/C, and this is all verified by the glovebox spid, which also matches frame and cab vin. Is that pretty rare for a 67 swb? I personally haven't seen many 67 swb trucks with all of those options. Last edited by brandster; 12-10-2021 at 11:28 AM. |

The more off the SPID we get the better we can tell. But tallies on options weren't kept, just models.

I remember in the past seeing some info on that. I think it was only around 4% of them in 67-68 got a/c.

Re: How rare is Factory A/C on a 67 swb?
There is no way to answer the question accurately, records like that were not kept. My 2 cents only - BBW and wood bed are non-rare coin tosses (i.e. individual people still have different preferences on these today - and nowadays, many prefer the SBW since it was the end of an era, even though it was the standard rear window), but.. 327 and a/c are nice options that increase the value of the truck - oh, and it's a shortbed, icing on the cake.

Ah, yes. My first truck (1983 - '93 when, alas! it was munched by a semi) was a '67 1/2t SWB Fleetside, 283 PG, w/ factory AC and PB but not PS.

Re: How rare is Factory A/C on a 67 swb?
I wouldn’t quite say rare, but that’s a fairly well optioned truck for 67. I will say that’s a very desirable combo (generally speaking), with bbw, v-8, and a/c.

Re: How rare is Factory A/C on a 67 swb?
I have read on different threads here that 67 and 68 were very low numbers for A/C, 3-4% and by 72 that number was over 30%.

Re: How rare is Factory A/C on a 67 swb?
I would also guess that the A/C trucks have had a better survival rate.

Re: How rare is Factory A/C on a 67 swb?
All your posts left out the best part - it's SILVER. Off White over Silver, to be exact. That is more rare than anything you asked about. Very, very cool truck. Can't wait to see some pics.

And a '67 red interior--what a great combo! I'm really looking forward to the pics!

Re: How rare is Factory A/C on a 67 swb?
The weather here was really bad today, non-stop rain so I didn't grab any pics, I will get some in a day or 2. Truck is rough as far as the paint, someone painted it a different color at some point and looks like they started sanding it down and didn't finish. The bed is off but the bedsides are in great condition and came with new oak wood flooring that I'll get put on at some point. Interior of cab is in really good shape, could probably use rockers, but rockers still not that bad. Cab supports good, drip rail good, Im really happy with the overall shape of the truck. I know there is always hidden rust, but happy with what i've seen on the surface. Also doesn't have the 327 in it anymore, wish it did and may find one at some point to put back in it.

Wow white/silver/red? That’s too cool. Great candidate for a factory restoration!
