Discolored Pushrods?
Been slowly getting around to making the truck road worthy, I only get time with it a few weeks a year. I pulled the carb and intake off (preparing for a swap) and noticed discolartion of the push rods. Is this something I should be concerned with? Truck sat for about 5 years without being started until about 6 months ago. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Discolored Pushrods?
Looks like varnish and crud build-up on the push rods. Rest of the engine looks pretty dry and free of deposits. Have you cleaned it?

Re: Discolored Pushrods?
Looks normal except #1 exhaust and #4 exhaust. They are much darker....

Re: Discolored Pushrods?
I have not cleaned it, just soaked up what little coolant spilled in when i removed the manifold.... I bought this engine with a "parts truck" and the PO stated that it was a rebuilt engine when I purchased it in 08. If it doesn't look like there are any more concerns, other than some pushrods/oil change, I'm going to pull the trigger on the manifold/carb kit.

Re: Discolored Pushrods?
They aren't discolored. Look Normal to me too. But if you're concerned, replace them. Decent pushrods are cheap.

Re: Discolored Pushrods?
I'd only worry about them if they were the wrong size or bent.
