The transmission is a New Process 435CR (close-ratio). Rear end should be a Dana 60 with 3.54. As 3.54 gears were standard with a 396.

Re: 1969 c20 spid decode
good morning,Merry Christmas.if you have the build sheet for your truck, the rear code is there to look up in field 17,mine says "RKH" a Dana 60 with a 3.54 no slip, but i realize my truck is a 72,not the same code in 69 i'm sure but it's there if you have the build sheet.if your rear end looks like mine,it's the Dana 60,you can barely make a "60" below the right axle tube cast in the center section. if it has a big round rear cover and the carrier removes out the front,it's an Eaton.take care.Greg

Re: 1969 c20 spid decode
Very nicely optioned C 20, thanks again to the camper boom of this era! IMO, this pickup was ordered with options only an experienced camper pickup buyer would choose. Someone who traded in their '59 or '62 1/2 ton with a small 6 and 3 on the tree with zero options ( typical ) that did a lousy job hauling a heavy camper. I've seen many dealer invoices that showed older 1/2 ton pickup trade ins for nicely equipped new 3/4 tons in this era. Transmissions were always a personal preference type of thing, however, the close ratio 4 speed was specifically designed for camper pickups to climb mountain roads at higher speeds in 3rd gear.
