Driveshaft and yoke question

So my differential bolts on like usual with clamp style fittings over the u oint but s does my yoke supplied from gear vendors and the yoke is not about on type. Isthis common now or should my u joints press into the yoke in the gear vendors for this to be proper?

Re: Driveshaft and yoke question

I'm not sure what your question is. But my Gearvendor uses the press in style yoke.

Re: Driveshaft and yoke question

Yeah. Every gear vendor I see in photos on here has a press in style. This is the one I got and my unit is new and I gave them all the info for my truck. It's wierd that they gave me this style. I've had it for 2 years already so no exchanges.

Re: Driveshaft and yoke question

My Gear Vendors yoke has press in u joints too. I'm sure the clamp on style will work. Did GV send the clamps for the yoke?

Re: Driveshaft and yoke question

No clamps. I was really frustrated with that but I didn't open it up right away so my loss. At least they could have the whole unit in the box

Re: Driveshaft and yoke question

I guess my major concern is that this is safe and won't vibrate like crazy like this. I can get clamps I'm sure but don't want this to come apart while driving.

Re: Driveshaft and yoke question

The only reason it would vibrate is if there was a balance issue with the driveshaft or a u-joint angle problem. The type of retention itself should not cause a vibration. Also, strap type u-joints are easier to replace.
