Cool I need HEI help

I'm sorry this is off topic, but you guys give good advice.

I have an '88 caprice that I would like to put a 350 in. The car has a computer operated carb and ignition system. I'm not going to use the computer with the new motor, Just have an Edelbrock carb and stand alone HEI.

My question is, how do I power up the HEI dist. in the car? What does it need to operate as far as power, ground and stuff?

I'd appreciate any assistance.

Elwood

it needs to have 12v with the ignition on "ON" or "Crank".. It will ground itself thru the engine block.. Im not exactly sure which guage of wire it requires, but its a fairly thick wire, on stock applications..

Does an 88 caprice still have the old style HEI in it (the big cap)? If so, I imagine you could use the same power wire that the computer controlled HEI has.

It has the small cap with seperate coil. There is a heavy guage pink wire running to the coil, I bet I can use that wire to light things up.

Any other suggestions?
