47-55.1 ABS Kick panels

I need to cover the kick panels, as the driver's side still has the inside louvers for the old side vent. I had planned on covering the kick panels and looked at these early on. It is time to put some speakers in the kicks and so I'm behind again.

I am looking at the White Wolf ABS kick panels. Has anyone used them, or any other interior kick panel?

I see a number that say "cardboard", but I think I want the ABS material, unless someone can tell why not.

Any help is appreciated.

I would just make your own. You can get various sized ABS sheets on Amazon. I purchase 4' x 8' sheets. It is easy to work with if you order 1/16" thick. Before I made my kicker boxes I made some simple kick panels out of ABS and I just tucked them in the windlace in the door to hold them into place. They could be easily covered with material if your choose. I didn't waste the time as I knew mine were temporary since I would be replacing them with speaker pods at some point.

I used the ABS for my door card backers as well as my other interior panels.

Thanks for the suggestion. How did you cut it? At 1/16 I'm guessing it was fairly flexible, right?

Yeah very flexible but not flimsy. It can also be heated if you need more form. You can cut it with a Stanley knife, a cut off wheel. For my headliner I used metal tin snips. Anything thicker than 1/18" it will be harder to slide it under the windlace.

One more question for now. Is the 1/16" thick enough to hold its shape? I mean for the roof for instance or the door panel?

Your welcome. Yes, I posted a pic on my build thread of my headliner I'm working on. Again you can always use heat to help form. For my headliner, each section is made up of compound curves. Once it is all in, I may go back and heat it to relax the tension some.

For my door cards I used 3/16 foam over the ABS then wrapped with material. I think 1/16" by itself would look too thin and flimsy for door cards.

If you give me your dimensions, I probably have enough scrap material for kicker panels. You cover the shipping and its yours.

Thanks, but I have a set that look a lot like those. Laura took one look and said it was not what she wanted. So, I'm going to flat with smaller speakers inset.

That is the best way to lean ANYTHING, to try things yourself...
It's pretty easy stuff to work with, I'm sure you will be fine.
