Where to find an ashtray?
I have a factory A/C truck and apparently there's an ashtray that goes under the dash. I have the mounting parts that the ashtray goes but no ashtray. Want to complete the dash. Is there an aftermarket one available ir is the others that are compatible to the mounts i.e. chevelle, Nova or maybe Impalas. Any info will help.

Re: Where to find an ashtray?
You could call this place and see what they have.
They have a Request a Part section https://www.aspenautoaz.com/request-a-part.html Link: https://www.aspenautoaz.com/store/c2...arts-c10-67-72

Re: Where to find an ashtray?
Ya those are hard to find. Every once in a while I see one for sale on eBay. Not for the faint of heart.

Re: Where to find an ashtray?
Not a source for an ashtray, but I was able to find out that the chrome ashtray pull handle was also used in 1963 Chevy 1963 Biscayne, Bel Air, and Impala cars. The actual ashtray is completely different.
I found that out the hard way, I had my pull handle set aside and when I went to put it in I couldn't find it. I found a picture of one and it had a part number on the bottom side. |

Re: Where to find an ashtray?
The ashtray used on A/C equipped trucks was pulled from Chevrolet's older parts catalog. The ashtray was also used on early 1950's Chevy cars as an accessory unit. The 1964 illustration of the dash of an a/c equippped truck shows this under dash ash tray with the same black plastic pull-knob as used on the early 1950's Chevrolet cars accessory unit. The black plastic knob was changed to a chrome unit from the 1963 Chevrolet car ash tray at some point. The same ash tray was used on 1963-1964 Chevrolet cars that had a/c. There is a plate bracket that is used on the trucks to mount it.
The GM part numbers for the early 1950's "ash recieviers" as it it called are 986624 (1953) and 986876 (1954). There is a vendor on eBay who reproduces the mounting bracket used to mount the ash tray to the dash. Re: Where to find an ashtray?
Here is a 1953-1954 style ash tray on eBay right now, same as the 1964 illustration: https://picclick.com/original-NOS-GM...122737630.html
Here is an earlier 1951-1952 unit that might work: https://picclick.com/Nos-1951-52-Che...145588806.html And another 1951-1952 unit: https://picclick.com/Nos-1951-1952-C...453620829.html |

Re: Where to find an ashtray?
Yeah they don’t give them away I found one on the form here look pretty rough if I remember correctly I gave somewhere around $75 for it looked like it was more rust than metal but to my surprise when receiving it someone had spray painted it Silver Over all the old tobacco crud which made it look like rust cleaned up perfectly lucked out
