Alternative sideview mirrors

I am thinking of using an alternative sideview mirror on my 56, maybe something like a 67 Camaro mirror.



What alternative mirrors are you guys using?

I am using peep mirrors but I have turned the mirror around so it will go in front of the original location

Good point.
I would like to use a Chrome / polished mirror with 50's or 60's styling.
I'll need check out some more options

I ran 73 C 10 sport mirrors on my 48 for a number of years. My buddy got them for me as new truck takeoffs when he was working at a Chevy dealer in 73.




I've got a pair of swan neck mirrors that I plan to run this time around. They aren't for everyone though and may not look at all right on a TF.


Corvette mirrors aren't exactly cheap but the 75/79 units are good looking and have pretty long stalks for a door mount mirrior https://www.ebay.ca/itm/171548775915...75.c101224.m-1 It looks like they are sold with two different sizes of heads.

The Corvette mirrors stand up pretty tall Top photo off a 75 other photo showing an earlier stingray with a different style that does have a bowtie on it.

After now 53 years have found Peeps and close in mirrors on an AD can be somewhat dangerous. (especially for us old farts). Had a couple of near mishaps especially on the passenger side. AD designers had the right ID and larger mirrors can make it better. Not pretty but either are accidents.

Make sure you have clearance for the wing windows to pivot out.

This for sure plus being able to around vent posts on both sides. I tried putting pad on mirror base and had wife carefully move it around. Nothing worked as well as original arms.

Wrecked AD's are uglier and very $$$$$$.

What about going with another Chevy truck mirror?

Because I bought a pair of nice 67/69 doors that have the spots for the mirrors that are on the arms that fasten to the doors with machine screws I plan to get a pair of the chrome/stainless stalks and then decide what mirror heads I want but will probably go with the larger square ones that are available.

The mirror arms run about 22 each in stainless from the truck trinket vendors and You could buy mirrior heads from one of them or from a local source. https://www.classicparts.com/1967-69...ctinfo/58-119/

Not real ugly but they wouldn't look out of place on most Chevy or GMC trucks.

I found these mirrors at Speedway and like the look, however, I could not adjust the passenger side to be functional, so I put a convex mirror on it.

I saved this photo of a custom 54 off the net a day or two ago just because I liked the truck and the color. This morning I was looking at it and it has the same swan neck mirriors that I have for my 48.
Not for everyone but they blend in with the early body style well.

man, you just have to look at that truck and keep noticing the little detail mods done. that was a project for sure.
where I live people tend to bend mirrors out of their way if they park too close. even if you park out in the back parking lot where nobody else is there seems to be a fish wagon parked right close next to you when you come back. I am going to try some sort of fold away mirror for my project. maybe ugly but mine will be a daily driver in the city so I need function too. I also want to be able to see my boat when I tow. good point on making sure you can see past tghe vent windows when open and also mirrors high enough so the full mirror is visible.
