Question Woodgrain tailgate band

Hello,

I posted a tach cluster on here to see if it’s original or not. So far it sounds like it is. It came with several take off parts from a K5 Blazer that a restoration shop ended up keeping.

I bought the parts from the owner of that shop, who did the restoration several years ago. When I told him that I thought the parts were a little too clean to be original, he told me that the blazer itself was very clean. He said it didn’t need to be restored and even tried buying it from the original owner. He said the owner wanted completely new parts on it and the restoration was done.

My question is, is this wood grain tailgate band original or a repop?

The letters seem to be plated plastic, as a magnet will not stick to them. Also, the black paint seems to be very thin on parts of the band, almost as if it was cleaned and rubbed off. Is that common with aftermarket pieces?

Thanks for any help. Vinnie

If the letters were metal they would be pot metal and a magnet would not stick to them.

Re: Woodgrain tailgate band

My aftermarket tailband (from GMC Paul's 2-3 years ago) had cheapo tape for the black stipes. I peeled that off and painted them back on. Paint tells me that it could be OEM or and older reproduction part.

Re: Woodgrain tailgate band

Thanks guys.

What would this be worth if I list it as a used aftermarket panel?

Thanks
