I've thought about using Rotella T6 5W40 that I use in most everything else.
How many miles have you been using the 10W40 in your LS motor?

Re: What oil and oil filter are you high mileage guys using

Both 4.3s had 10 years and over 250K on them. The 4.8 had about 185K, but I only drove it a couple years. The 94 C1500 w 350 had 296K. I use 10w40 down here since we don't get really cold and it gets so hot during the summers. If I was back up north I'd probably use the 10w30 or 5w30 weight. Currently I have no LS motors, but use the same stuff on the ole Dodge 318 I am currently using as a DD.

Re: What oil and oil filter are you high mileage guys using

Amsoil and either AC Delco or Amsoil filters on everything.

Amsoil OE and AC Delco UPF48R filter on the Envoy, currently has 193k miles on it

Amsoil XL and Amsoil filter for my 2012 Sierra

My dad used to have a '94 K1500 W/T 4.3L, ran Amsoil OE and AC Delco PF52 filter- sold it with 270k on it and it's still going.
He also has a 2004 2500HD, runs Amsoil OE and AC Delco filter- getting close to 250k miles.

If the 40W hot doesn't cause you problems I believe my next oil change will be to Shell Rotella T6 5W40. I run that in the tractors so I have a 55gallon drum of T6. I run it in the Jetta and my other machines. Just being conservative on the LQ4 truck and LS4 Impala by running the exact API weight specified.

Have you checked the mounting surface to make sure there isn't a crack or imperfection on the block?
Ended up being my oil pressure switch not filter.I noticed the k&n quit using the nut on the bottom of their filters.I guess people were over tightening them and cracking the filter housing.
