1950 on an s10 frame LS power steering hose

Getting close to firing this thing up. Is their a stock power steering hose that fits an LS swapped/s10 frame? Probably a very short one from the look of it. Thanks

Re: 1950 on an s10 frame LS power steering hose

You are contending with several factors when you start dealing with the " what hose fits my swap" thing.

1. fittings on each end of the hose have to match the unit they attach to.

2. the bends on each end have to work with the the pump and the box.

3. The length has to be correct.

I don't think the fittings will be the issue as the S-10 box should use the O-ring fittings rather than flared fittings.

It might not hurt to do a search for S-10 LS swap and see if any of the vendors sell a hose for the swap in a stock S-10 or look for G body swap pieces. Many parts that are on S-10 are actually G body parts. If you leave the old truck part out and just go S-10 or G body you might find a simple solution that someone else already worked out.

Re: 1950 on an s10 frame LS power steering hose

I know I never had the s10 power steering pump or hoses as I just bought an s10 frame so I think I bought an s10 hose and the fitting to the LS1 pump on it was the same as the s10. It's been a while. I did have to bend the metal tubes but they are easy to bend. Just use a tubing bender or be very careful not to kink them.

I recall from reading when I was looking into it that, as mentioned above, the GM G body cars (Cutlass etc) hoses had the same fittings as the s10 but, again, double check that info.

If you want easy out, couple times I’ve needed custom hose, if you have hose/fittings to each end in hand, I went down to local hydraulic hose fab shop, they made hose with new fittings to match those I took in. Stainless flex and professional job under $40 for a few feet

Re: 1950 on an s10 frame LS power steering hose

You probably have it sorted out but While the ends should match up with O ring ends at each end, not many LS engines came in rigs with a steering box mounted on the frame rail. Most come in cars with a rack and pinion.

The best bet may be to look at a hose for a 2001 Chevy C 1500 with a 5.3 or later truck with a 5.3 to 6.0. You may have to do some reshaping but that may come closest all around.
