Seat questions
72 suburban.
Came with buckets (not correct) and console and a bench that matched. Tall 2nd row brackets in front an two short rear brackets. Think it came from. Blazer, front buckets too. So, on to the questions. 1. I pulled a bench from c10, completely roached, took it down to the frame. Pretty sure that will bolt right in. Is that correct? 2. I got a bench from a suburban, I thought. It was going to go in the middle row, but it has two brackets and there are four holes in floor? Nothing lines up? 3. Same with third bench, four holes, two brackets, nothing lines up. I am going to cut and weld the front legs to be 4.5 inches. I looked at the seat thread, but can’t for the life of me can’t see how this is supposed to line up? I was going to get a 1/8 plate and bolt that into the floor an and bolt seats to the plate. Maybe use a route to recess it into plywood? Open to suggestions. Thanks |

Re: Seat questions
There are narrow and wide second seats. The narrow being the same width as the third seat with different height brackets.
Some year Suburban's had 4 rear seat brackets some years had two. I don't think it would be too hard to re-drill the seat frame to correspond to the holes in the floor. I have Blazer seats in my Suburban. I like them.

Re: Seat questions
Welcome aboard. As mentioned there are different seats. If your Burban came from the factory with only a 2nd row seat that seat will be full width. If it came from the factory with a 3rd row seat then the 2nd row seat will be the short seat. Your SPID should show what seats the truck came with.
1. I pulled a bench from c10, completely roached, took it down to the frame. Pretty sure that will bolt right in. Is that correct? Yes the pick-up seat will bolt right in. 2. I got a bench from a suburban, I thought. It was going to go in the middle row, but it has two brackets and there are four holes in floor? Nothing lines up? I am assuming when you say 2 brackets you mean the ones across the bottom of the back of the seat. If your floor has 4 holes across the back it came with the full width 2nd row seat and no 3rd row seat. The top piece of U Channel in the photo is the brace under the plywood that the 2nd row seat bolts to in a 2 row 67 Burban. If you look close there are 4 square nuts welded to the channel. Those are what the back of the seat is bolted to. A 3 row Burban would have only 2 welded nuts and they would be offset to the driver's side. See the photos of the 3 row seat set in the link to see the short 2 bracket 2nd seat. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=331075

Re: Seat questions
Thanks everyone.
For the rear seat brackets, both the 2nd and the 3rd row have 4 holes and a welded nut. I’m going to cut and shorten the extra fronts for the third row front brackets. Here is my spid…pretty sure it came with 3 seats Last edited by LockDoc; 03-16-2022 at 03:26 PM. Reason: Removed WTB sentence. Need to be a Premium member to post that. |

Re: Seat questions
Welcome to the group, GeoffK...I have received lots of help from the members here (especially Lock Doc and HO455), so maybe I can contribute a little insight to your seat issue as I too have a '72 factory 3 row. If the four welded-on nuts as shown in HO455's photos are indeed what you are having issues with, just remember that the two middle nuts are the seatbelt anchor points whether your seat has two brackets or four brackets (mine only has two brackets so the seatbelt anchors go directly to the floor and get their strength from those welded-on nuts). The center seat is a shorty just like the rear seat, only off-set from each other due to the wheel wells. I can't give any insight on what to do if you are trying to put a full size bench where the center seat short bench goes...but it sounds like some are saying to use the factory floor holes/nuts and adapt it to the bench you are working with? I hope this helps...if even just a little.

Re: Seat questions
My 71 gmc had both rear seats from the factory and both seats used 4 brackets along the back side. I no longer have them but the holes are visible. Maybe it’s a year difference between 2 and 4 brackets?

Re: Seat questions
My 67 2 row Burban has provisions for the front mounts of both sizes of seats in the floorboard. With the long seat it used the hole in the purple circle. Your 3 row seat will use the the hole in the yellow circle.
And to prevent any confusion I meant that a pick-up bench would bolt in to where a Suburban front bench had been from the factory.

Re: Seat questions
Correct. A front bench will not fit in the middle position. Also the third seat has very short front brackets. I believe they were the same on the rear seat of Blazer/Jimmy
