Oil Filler Tube Question

My 1970 C/10 has a 307 and I recently added front disc brakes with a booster. I had planned on using one of the factory oil fill extension tubes to make adding oil easier so I picked one up here on the forum. It came with the factory correct bolt but I'm not sure how to attach it. Also, it looks like I need a different valve cover for the driver's side of the engine. Mine has sort of a slotted hole for the oil fill cap but I believe the engines with the oil fill tube have a smooth circular hole to accept the rubber grommet that the tube plugs into.

Could someone post a pic of how the factory mounting bolt attaches to the intake manifold and how it holds the tube brace?

Also, is there a way to determine exactly what valve cover I need for the driver's side of the engine so I can use the oil fill extension?

I may be wrong, but didn't the oil filler tubes connect at the intake manifold?

Yes, the bracket/bolt portion attaches to one of the bolt holes in the intake manifold with the special bolt I showed in place of a standard manifold bolt and the “spout” end goes into a rubber grommet which is plugged into a hole in the driver’s side valve cover.

I’m just unclear on how the special bolt works to hold the manifold and brace in place and exactly what a correct valve cover would look like. I believe it has a different oil fill hole that one that uses the standard oil fill cap.

You torque the bolt in the intake manifold as you normally would. Then you hook up the filler tube in the valve cover, slide that support arm over the bolt, thread a nut on and tighten it down. It doesn't have to be super tight, just enough to hold it down and not turn the bolt in the intake.

The adapter bolt would screw into the intake, then the support rod would fit over the short stud with a nut on it. That adapter bolt would just replace one of the intake bolts.

EDIT: 68 P.O.S. was one minute quicker than me.... That's what happens when you are a two fingered typer with CRS....

NOE 703-1302 is the correct grommet to fit the same hole the oil plug would fit. https://www.napaonline.com/en/search...302&referer=v2

Okay, I have half of the equation figured out. Maybe I should actually lay hands on the part before I post a question. So, for those that don't have access to a factory mounting bolt, but are curious, here's a graphic. Nut #2 is fixed to the bolt (doesn't turn) so you insert the long end of the bolt into the mounting hole of the intake manifold and use bolt #2 to cinch the manifold down. You then slip the oil fill bracket over the short portion of the bolt, add the lock washer, then nut #1 and tighten it down taking care not to increase the torque achieved when tightening nut #2.

Now, on to the valve cover portion of the equation. I'm familiar with the rubber grommet that the tube slips into but I don't know if I would get a proper seal if I put that grommet in my current valve cover due to the slotted circle. So I'm trying to figure out exactly which driver's side valve cover to get.

In the pics below, my valve cover has an oil fill hole like the chrome example but I've seen covers with a smooth circular hole (red example) like in the pair I posted earlier in this thread. Anyone familiar with which valve cover I need to use?

The red one is the type you need.The crome is a newer style that the cap does a half turn to lock.

Ford oil cap might work, you may have to modify the opening if possible. Ecklers shows the style I'm thinking of.

Older. '67 at least, maybe '68, but no later.

That is the style I want to go back to, myself, but I need to get the right manifold for it (naturally, I threw one away about 30 years ago )
