The carpet just sits there. No adhesives needed.

Another tip. Have a round bar, some old sockets, and a propane torch. Anywhere you need a hole pic the appropriate size socket or rod, heat it up and melt a hole in the carpet. This will singe the fine fuzz together and make for a really professional look and make assembly much easier (the fuzz at the edge of a hole is notorious for finding its way into the threads of your fastener).
