building a engine trans set up
My last build I bought my LS1 and 460E together complete with pcm and harness (drop out). I have a chance to buy a ls1 Engine only (no harness or PCM) out of a 02 Camero at a good price. How complicated is it to get a trans and harness and pcm to make it as a Dropout that is as easy as the dropout to install in my new project or is it still better and safer to by a drop out complete. I assume the corvette LS1 motors would be the same. Are the PCMs different for every app. or are they standard with all LS1.

Re: building a engine trans set up
As far as I know all LS1/4L60E ecms are the same. On my LS swaps I buy the harness and ecm from the same supplier. I like Speartech and Howell. Buy from one place so if there is an issue you have one person to call.
You can give the supplier your engine trans combo, gear ratios, tire size and other details so they mod the ecm program to match. That 02 LS1 will have the better LS6 intake. |

Something about the 98 LS1 computer and harness is different but I'm unsure what it is. Just be careful what you buy if you get only the engine.
