Body swap
I am having a hard time finding a good k10/k20 roller to start a project on. I can get my hands on an old 89 K5 blazer with a blown engine. My question, Can I scrap the 89 body, and slap a 70-72 C-10 short bed body on on the 89 frame? The 89 frame is about 4 inches shorter than a 72 K10.
Has anyone done something like this? I would think IF I got some 72 cab and bed mounts put on the K5 frame it may work. Last edited by Sirpsych0; 03-31-2022 at 06:26 PM. |

Re: body swap
You would have to cut down the bed to get the wheel wells to match up and then IMO it would look goofy with such a short bed and not being a Blazer. Just my thoughts.

Re: body swap
Agreed, that would not look good.
I found some other threads and links to people using other frames. Looks like I just need to be patient and find the right starter truck with the correct frame and cab. |

Re: body swap
You could always cut down a burb or long bed frame. But I agree, the correct frame would be nice if you don't have the stuff to do the frame mods.

Re: body swap
I'd actually be happy to find a good k10 longbed frame and keep it long. The 4wd frames are just scarce in my area. Do you know if the Suburban frame is the same as a longbed? Never even thought about that.
And you are correct, I am not set up to do frame modifications. No welder at the moment and pretty tight on garage space. |

Re: body swap
If I remember correctly, the burb frame is shorter than a standard cab long bed.
