Leaking Durajet carburator on 79 C10

I have a 79 LWB Scottsdale with a 305 v8. My dad bought it new. The original 2 barrel Durajet 210. The threads on the carb. body are stripped. Where the filter and fuel line from pump comes in.
I bought one of them oversize self threading fitting's. It has worked about 6 months but now it is leaking and will not tighten anymore. I got to have a new carb. body or go another route. I cant find much on replacing the Durajet online.

I’d try doubling up the gaskets.

And I see they might be able to helicoil yours.

If the Durajet is otherwise working, fixing it is probably the simplest. If it has other problems on top of the leak, I would replace it. Depending on your long term plans, could replace with like carb or swap on a 4bbl manifold and carb. A 4 bbl may seem to much for a 305 but they did put Q-jets on stock 327s.

One last ditch thing to try is remove the filter, dry everything and use a batch of JBWeld or similar as 'pipe dope' when you screw the empty filter housing into the carb body one last time. You will have to make other arrangements for a filter.

Most of the 305 trucks had Quadrajets anyway. I guess your choice is if you want to keep it the way Dad bought it or swap in a 4 bbl set up. Why is the intake black?

If it where mine, remove the carb filter and seal up the threads so you don't need to put any further wear & tear on the carb threads. Put an inline filter in the rubber hose by the fuel pump.
Gas resistant sealant I've used successfully. Might take some hunting to find a local parts store that has it: https://www.permatex.com/products/ga...-liquid-16-oz/

And if you do plumbing, you might have some rectorseal it is gasoline rated and you can find it at home despot. I have not used it on any gasoline apps, but its the goto for other materials. Take your pick;
