62 front shocks

The front shocks on my 62 c10 need replaced. I have a couple questions for the board.
1. How do you tell if the truck has been lowered from a stock 62? I think it may have been lowered just in the front and possibly by adjusting the torsion bars. Where can I measure from or get the stock layout to check.

2. If the truck has been lowered will a stock front shock still work or do I need to measure from a specific point to determine shock replacement length.

3. Best shock for this application? I can afford decent quality 125-150$ range per.

I think I would be better off if I were to swap crossmember to a later model but right now I’m living out of an rv til the house and shop get rebuilt so I don’t want to tear it down too much til then and I get to replacing some tools. The driveway is uphill so the trucks stance isn’t quite as apparent here as when on flat ground.

Re: 62 front shocks

You will be fine with a stock shock.

Re: 62 front shocks

Get us a picture of the torsion bar adjustment bolt.
If it's been lowered, depending on how far, they'll be sticking down a ways. Otherwise, they should be tucked up within the crossmember.
