Volt meter question
I have a 74 Chevy C20 pickup. The Volt meter doesn't work while installed in the truck. However it works perfect out of the vehicle when measuring battery voltage. There are only 2 plug-in points for it in the instrument cluster but the gage has 3 terminals. What is the purpose of the third terminal? I am confused.

Re: Volt meter question
Has the wiring been changed to accommodate the volt gauge? 73-75 trucks came with an ammeter gauge which is wired differently.

Re: Volt meter question
I will second what prong said earlier trucks had ammeter gauges not volt meter gauges.

Re: Volt meter question
this thread might help, especially post #9 and also Hatzie's wiring diagram links in his signature. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=643942
As noted above, if you truly have a GM voltmeter in your 74, it's a 76+ gauge. |
