Re: Frustrated overheating, timing issue?
From how you describe it your coolant return isn’t working.
Pulling the cap off cold there should be coolant full to overflowing. Full right to the overflow tube. What kind of cap are you using? I think you mentioned that before but I can’t find it in the posts. |

Can you recommend an overflow reservoir design that works well? |

Re: Frustrated overheating, timing issue?
Those lever style don’t work in a return system.
You need a Normal 16# cap. I always looked for return tanks that fit good. Mid 70’s impalas worked. I was lucky to have a buddy who had a hundred old cars on the back forty that I scrounged parts off. Just measure the spot and look for something that fits. Or summit racing has pages of them. |

Re: Frustrated overheating, timing issue?
I bought one of these setups from PICKMUP, and it works great. I'm using an RC32 radiator cap, as recommended lower down in that thread.

Switched to a normal cap and the return is definitely working. The new heads, intake, cam, timing set i just installed all work nice, too. |
