Re: What is this?

Can't tell from the pic- is the tapered part neoprene? Even if it isn't, it could still be a carburetor needle (as in needle & seat).

Re: What is this?

Yes, strange and kinda scary.
I should have took a pic of it before I picked it up. It was laying in a very small spot of some kind of lubricant.
It's all metal.

Any bullet holes in your truck? That looks like the carbide center out of a .30-06 Armor Piercing round.

Re: What is this?

If you have a power glide transmission, I would think it might be a keeper pin for the dog that locks the transmission when you put it in park. Just a thought.

Do you mean parking pawl?
I have a TH350.
Would it be tapered like that on one end?
If it is from my Th350, I have no idea how it came out or how to put it back.

Re: What is this?

There is nothing like that in a TH350. I've rebuilt several.

Thank you!
I feel a little better.
However,
I still need to figure out what it is.

You know, it might not even be from your truck.

I'm starting to think that. It's just weird that I backed the truck out, and while sweeping up, I saw it on the floor in very small spot of oilely something. If something happens later while I'm driving, I'll post back.
Thanks everyone.

Re: What is this?

Is it hardened? Drag it across a good flat file and see if it takes any metal off

Re: What is this?

I'll give it a try, but my guess is yes, it is hardened. It feels like a needle bearing.

At first I didn't think this was a possibility but years ago I frequented an abandoned quarry turned shooting range and I remember finding these things littering the ground and never knew what they were. If it is hardened I'd find someone with a metallurgy tester. If it turns out to be tungsten

Re: What is this?

Wow, that sure looks like it.
I wonder if it was lodged in some cranny in my truck and just happen to fall out in my garage/shop. I have no idea how something like that would show up on the floor of my garage/shop.
