Gas shocks?
It's time for me to get new shocks for Ol Red. It's been close to 12 or 13 years since my dad last had them changed. I hear that gas shocks work very well, they improve ride and last longer and handle better. My cousin uses KYB GR2 gas shocks, which is probably what i will buy, they are fairly cheap. Is it worth it to get gas shocks? I'm installing them myself if that makes a dif. My truck is a C10 and it gets no off road use, AAMOF im pretty easy on it.

I put Rancho 5000 on my 96. I've had them on around a year now and love them. Whenever I do the 82 and 70, I'll probably go with them. Mine are all stock height and really don't see off road either. I have not used KYB's on anything other than ricer racer's when I lived in Japan, but I found a lot of other brands I liked better. The KYB and Bilstein seem to be very popular though, so they may have improved their quality over the years. This was my first time with Rancho's and I was impressed.

I use KYBs up front and its a great ride. Very nice shock for the money. Im gonna be using some Doetsch Techs on the back when its slammed though. Right now I have air shocks on the rear.
 Worst riding shock EVAR!!!!

If you're running regular hydraulic shocks now, you will notice a MUCH firmer ride from good quality gas shocks. About 4 months ago, I removed the 4 original (and believe it or not, they were still good) hydraulic shocks from my '76 and replaced them with Gabriel LT gas shocks. The ride was much firmer, you felt road imperfections much easier, but the truck handles much better. Also, it used to bounce two or three times after going over a long sweeping bump (at speed). Now it just rebounds once. Much nicer. Make the upgrade, it's worth it. Shocks are not an item to scrimp on pricewise, so get as good a set as you can afford.
