disk break question
I have converted the front of my 70 chevy to disks and spindles from a 72. My question is will they function properly with all the original equipment. It has manual breaks and the proportining valve for the 4 wheel drum set up. I hope I made the right decision in this swap.

Convert to power brakes with the proportioning valve for a disk/drum setup.

'71 Chevy pickups came with manual disc brakes as standard equipment. You don't need the power booster, but use a master cylinder & prop. valve from a disc brake truck.

In order to get the full affect of the front disc brakes you will need a Disc/Drum master cylinder & disc/drum prop valve. Otherwise braking will be no better than the drum/drum setup you previously had. Power booster is not required but does make driving more pleasureable with the less effort exerted required when braking.
