Re: crew cab fold down seat to bed

Well I might have hit a major snag...the Choo-Choo Customs seat/bed I was gonna get came out of a Suburban. Now I read the Suburban second row seats use different brackets vs the crew cab rear seat. Suggestions? Not really wanting to cut my truck up to make it worth it.

I can totally understand not wanting to cut up your truck - I wouldn't either. But I can see putting that seat in there and propping it up on chunks of 1x material until you like how it sits. And then replicate whatever you need to prop it up with 1 inch square tubing. The nice thing about that stuff to me, is that you can bolt it together if you don't have have a welder. And if you get it set up the way you like it, you can take it to a shop and get it welded up if you want. Now if you have to cut into the seat frame, I would imagine you ought to have that welded. But if you're okay with it sitting a little higher than the old seat used to, it sure seems like you ought to be able to stack some material in between the floor and the brackets and get it level. And then bolt or weld that up and be good. Of course almost anything is easy to imagine when you don't have to do it yourself, haha. So good luck!

Haha, well done. Maybe because you have good taste in trucks.

Guess I would need to see the differences in the seats in person. The guy I would buy the Choo-Choo seat from is 4 hours away, so $100+fuel for a what if kinda sucks.

Are all 4 corners different or just the rear? I own 1 decent welder and have access to several others, so that's not an issue.

Re: crew cab fold down seat to bed

Well, you were excited to find it. So, I guess you've got to decide if you want to gamble. If you decide it's too much work, clean it up and sell it for $150?

I was definitely excited to find it. Mostly for the longer trips we take she can lay down in the back, especially when we make the move to Tennessee and drive there.

Shipping would be a nightmare to Seattle.

Re: crew cab fold down seat to bed

I didn't realize they did those in suburbans, now I want one for the crew and the burb!
Be nice if someone would post the bottom of the fold down crew seat showing the brackets. I have one for my g30 van, curious how different it is to the crew and burb brackets.

Re: crew cab fold down seat to bed

The Van bases were essentially a rectangle of tube or angle with legs long enough to put the cushion at a comfortable height off the floor.

Rather than fab an entire seat base...
I would think you could remove the legs from the folding seat base and the sliders or legs from the 2nd row seats then fab adapters to mate the sliders/legs to the rectangle.

Both of my vans have the folding seat, but one has three sections instead of two. I guess it's a queen.

I meant $150 to cover your costs if you decide you don't want it. Not to sell to me. I have a no-fold 'Burban, and no need to change it, but thanks anyway ; )

Re: crew cab fold down seat to bed

Well got off work way early and made the 8 hour round trip to get the seat.

The good: it's in great shape, too bad I have tan interior.

The bad: despite being told the brackets were intact, upon arrival, the sliders are there, but the brackets are missing. I am fairly sure I can use the stock rear seat brackets in combination with some steel flat stock to make it work. Definitely gonna test fit prior to having any upholstery work done.

What's with the lever? Does it fold manually? I assumed it was power like the vans.

Manual sliders and recline/fold. I am glad it's not power, more to deal with.

Ended up not using it. Stereo Amp and speaker box prevents from completely folding flat.

Anyone interested in it?
