Trick for installing Door Rod Clips
Hello,
I replaced the outside door handle, but can't get the little Door latch rod clip back on. What's the best trick? I'm trying not to remove the whole latch mechanism. Then I'd have to put three clips back on. I watched the Brothers Trucks YouTube video, but they make it look easy. |

A lot of swearing was my trick. Eventually I got it to pop it on. Maybe someone knows something, but they universally suck. There had to be a better design they didn't use.

Re: Trick for installing Door Rod Clips
If I remember correctly, the easiest way to install that type of clip is to first push it all the way onto the lever on the latch mechanism. Then insert the linkage rod through the hole and push on it to snap it into place.
Trying to install them by reversing the removal procedure ... sliding the clip partially onto the latch lever, inserting the rod, and then trying to finish sliding the clip into place will be much more difficult since the edges of the clip aren't tapered to slide onto the rod in that direction. |

Re: Trick for installing Door Rod Clips
I think I'm going to remove the latch, put the clips on. There are three I think, then slide the connecting rod into the clip. I can't get to the one that connects to the outside door handle. It's the farthest inside the door. I tried for about an hour, and gave up.
