400 Engine Ignition Wires

Does anyone have a bone stock 400 engine in a C10 that still has the ignition wires routed as they were from factory and if so could you post some pics.

Re: 400 Engine Ignition Wires

Can’t imagine they would’ve routed the wires any differently on the 400 than any other small block. So as long as you get some factory photos of other engines from that era you should be goos

The reason I asked is because the 400 small block I had rebuilt to replace the 350 in my 72 is missing a couple of spots to attach the wire looms that are on the 350 so was wondrig how they routed the wires from the factory without the spots to attach the loom brackets.

Re: 400 Engine Ignition Wires

In 73 GM truck small blocks changed from ram's horn to log style exhaust manifolds. So the plug wire routing is considerably different for 72 & earlier vs. 73 & later.

Cars with small block Chevys changed over even earlier (in 68 I believe). So I don't think there were any small block 400's that were factory equipped with the ram's horn style manifolds. With that in mind, you'll probably have to get creative with attaching the wire looms ... possibly making some homemade adapters that will allow them to attach to some other nearby bolt.

That's probably the issue as we did use rams horns on the 400. Okay, i guess time to get creative. I bought a whole new set of looms and 2 wont fit. Thanks
