Aftermarket Tach
Hi I bought a 79 k10 all original with a 350 backed with a sm465 transmission. Since I want to preserve the originality I don’t want to take the cluster apart and swap tach that way. I would like a tach for the matter of I’m wanting to keep an eye on the rpm to not be beating on it but also get where I need to go without risking taking it too far. What type of tach to use and where to mount?

Re: Aftermarket Tach
Autometer 2300 series is my goto. Hose clamp in clear tubing, mounted to the steering column at the edge by the steering wheel. Doesn't damage anything, no screw holes in anything.

Re: Aftermarket Tach
look up AutoMeter Tach or there cheaper line AutoGauge for one you like. (Style and size). As said a dry 5-6 " clamp make sure you put the clamp on the (column) part that does not turn when shifting, some time you may have to make up your own Z shape bracket to get the right placement for height.
