Want Facts on 2wd-4wd swapping
I`ve heard so many versions of cans and can`ts.Lets seperate Myths from facts.I`ve never tryed swapping,so I`m not claiming to know any facts.I`ve heard:frames are different in front, spring(leaf)perches are different in rear...Can you use a 2wd frame to install factory 4wd(same year)? What would it take to convert a K5 into a C5?Why are K20 cab mounts listed seperately?Who`s done what and what`s involved?

I just used a newer frame. Had the disks up front and was just a 1 and a half divverent than the short 2wd. Went pretty easy. Oh and the newer blazer tanks fit real well. My body man likes the thought of using a burb frame. He thinks it would work out better.

Hey Mudder67,Thanks for the reply.Thought this would be a"hot"subject.Maybe questions need to be put up seperately. That`s a good tip.I see`73-`87 4wd shortys for sale alot and I wouldn`t care about the body.I have a diesel`91 burb(3/4t)w/4"EZride springs & 315/75x16 MTRs I either want to put a `67-`72 8`body or burb body on the frame.

Sounds like you need my '70/72 4x4 SWB truck I'm selling
From what I know, If you are going from 2wd to 4wd, the easiest way to go is with a leaf-spring 2wd frame. The front Crossmembers will swap, but you still need to mount your shackels and such up front. I looked into doing this a while back but found it would be easier to do a bodyswap. However, plans changed once again, and I'm Step-Notching my SWB 2wd to lay frame this winter Hope this helps some... Kenny
