I will likely have to duplicate your battery mount. My turbo et al is totally in the way of everything.

Any thoughts or recommendations if you were to do it again?

as far as the battery mount, so far so good. Obviously it's a summer cruiser only so not worried about cables and stuff getting trashed. probably worst scenario is if It ever needed to be jump started I would be on my hands and knees....but so what?

Not to highjack but here is what I did so I dont have to crawl under my truck. It will be mounted under my raised bed floor so I can access it by opening my tailgate. The posts were a few bucks off Amazon.

My dually has been road worthy for >6yrs w/the battery under the truck vs in the engine compartment. It's a PITA to access if the truck is air'd out so that's something to keep in mind.

Beyond that, the worst thing is having to lie on the ground if I wanted to help jump-start someone. Easy enough on a dry day.... Not so when it's wet or worse. My 64 will also have the battery under the bed floor but I'm making access via the floor a priority as I do the floor. There's also the remote terminal pods that can be used as well but I'm going to do my best @ keeping things simple w/what's there as my first option.

Ok, now i really like this. What is this called and where did you get this, or did you make this? I have a battery mount under the cab and would like to have a good Jump point if i ever need it.

Ok so i did some research and found these, looking for remote Batter jump start and found them. I like this idea and will be "Borrowing it" lol. I really like this layout and will do something like this but i am also looking at installing the (positive) jump start cable end into a formed piece of metal (Positive) then mount that to the truck BUT i am looking at mounting it with insulating rubber bushings to separate it as must as possible from shorting out. We all know what fun could be had if the positive shorts out.....

I found just about the same ones on Amazon and have them set up to be ordered shortly. I plan to make my own, like you are talking about, but i am thinking about making them seperate, one for the positive cable that is isolated from any ground point to help protect from a possible short. So basically instead of having one holder with both i would have one for each. I also have a large circuit breaker and/or reset fuse holder that will be right at the battery so now that i say that i would not need to isolate both of the terminals but could actually put them both together like you have shown and maybe then just isolate the whole unit with rubber bushings. just brainstorming at the moment....

As Woody's fuel tank is now in the rear, and I plan on relocating the battery to behind the passenger rear wheel, I have purchased a set of these plugs to put into the fuel filler to jump start/trickle charge the battery without having to get under my truck.

Used these a lot in my motorsport career as they have the added advantage of not having any 'hot' exposed terminals.

Seem slightly safer than the units mentioned above PLUS race car.

Those Anderson connectors are what I want to use. Have a fitting under the hood, and then craft up jumper cables that plug into it.

You're saying race car, but when I see those, I think forklift.

If you cannot say "race" and "forklift" in the same sentence you have obviously never worked in warehousing and we can no longer be friends....

What you have described is exactly what I have hanging up on my shelf of stuff I made/bought/bartered.

Make sure you get the pull handle, they are a bear to remove without.

Oh yes, we had these on the Drag race car actually, with our good charger unit. I could not remember the name of them.... they work well BUT you must have a connector with something on the ends so that you can use say a random persons jumper cable or carry the ones that match this connector.

The downside is, as you said Jeff, you need to carry a set of jump leads with the Anderson connectors. My solution to that is to have another set of leads with the opposite Anderson connector on so, plug them together and you have a standard set of jump leads.

Yes, I know it is more stuff to carry about but... It makes me happy!

update:
Up to 800 miles and got it on the rollers yesterday. About 650 on E85. Oil pressure was a little low so I'm replacing the pump this winter and we will see if I can push it a little more. I can confirm that 650 is MORE than enough!
