Question how storng are pre '85 700r4's?

I was wondering how strong are the pre '85 700r4's? It would be behide my 68burb that has a pretty stock 350 with 4.11's and posi. What I plan on it being able to do is mostly daily driving but I want it to be able to tow ans tow a good load with out any problem! So whata think? Oh I was told by a friend that his friends parents have this 700r4 and it is free to the taking it just needs to be pulled!

just because it's an 85 doesn't mean you can't upgrade it to the beefier clutch pak, heavier sprag, servos, etc..... if it's free, I'd take it and either upgrade it now, or run it til it dies and then have it rebuilt with the heavier components... either way, you're starting with a free trans, so what do you have to lose?

87-up are the 10 vane pump models, 82 to 84 1/2 are fewer spine input, and 85-86 are more splines and a little bit better, but not upgraded yet and are stil only 7 vanes.
