TH350 Planetary Overdrive

Looking for some information on these planetary gears. The wording Monster Transmission uses is that they will reduce the cruising RPMs such as in overdrive. Is this a cheap alternative to an overdrive transmission?

Thanks in advance.

Re: TH350 Planetary Overdrive

"Wide-Ratio 350". I'd prefer 4 speeds for that kind of setup, personally, especially when towing.

How about a link to the actual product instead of a screen shot

Re: TH350 Planetary Overdrive

I can't read it. I don't see any way to get anything other than a 1:1 high gear ratio out of a simpson based transmission gear set

Re: TH350 Planetary Overdrive

When you click on the link (after googling it) this is what it shows:
An overdrive unit is designed to maintain cruising speeds of the vehicle while simultaneously reducing the RPM produced in order to better fuel economy and prevent excess noise and wear made by the various parts of the transmission. Monster uses this in conjunction with the TH350 planetary gearset to allow the gears to turn at their peak efficiency. There is also the stock variety planetary available as well for a more cost effective choice.

350, 350C Planet, Rear Low/ Reverse (69-86)

A Brand 350, 350C bushing. Will fit years from 1969-1986. Replacement 4 Pinion Rear Planetary for a Turbo TH350 Transmission Monster Transmission provides transmission parts for all transmission year, make, and models.

For the different gears these clutch combinations are required.
3rd= forward / intermediate / and direct clutches
reverse= low/reverse and direct clutches

No way this part can be used as an overdrive.

It appears to be a marketing / internet developer syntax mistake.
The only one show is the one refereed to as "stock variety planetary available".
Pretty much BS as best as I can tell.
