what type of carb would you insist on useing for your 350?
i need a new carb and all i was going to go edelbrock but i am not sure b/c of the price what do you need a manual for eletrice choke notr sure i dont know much about this but plain to learn i was thinking the thunder se4rice for eldebrock you heard of it i am sure let know thanks

If I had lots of money I would run a demon on every carb'd vehicle I own, but I don't. So the daily has a carter 600cfm and the toy has a holley 750DP. If I was about to spend money on a new carb I would buy a used demon off ebay instead

I don't know much about carbs myself :p , but I found this on ebay a lil while ago. Says performance if thats what your lookin for, but its pretty cheap.

i am waiting for my Edelbrock 600 to get here as we write, my rochester is slowly dying.
check these two numbers at www.summitracing.com : EDL-9900 and if it is stock intake, EDL-2697

With you being new to a carb get the Edelbrock 600 1406 (electric choke) You live in Iowa and will need it in winter. The 1406 is one of the easiest to tune and change out the jets, rods, and springs all while the carb is on the engine. It's a great carb for performance as well as daily driving.

Electric have automatic warming chokes, where as manual has a lever you pull in the cab??? Am i wrong, or right?

TIMSPEED... you seem to be a little confused. A manual choke is just that, its set & unset maunually, with a hand operated cable. What you seem to be speaking of is mechanical

That is what I call a manual choke. Electric has already been explained pretty well. I have that hot air choke on mine and will be replacing it in the near future. I am running an aluminum intake and in the winter time (in the Dakota's) there are times where it will heat up and the choke will go off but as soon as you start driving and the cold air gets in there, the choke comes back on.
What happens on this setup is much like the electric. You have the thermo spring that sits on the intake. As the intake heats up, so does this spring which begins to uncoil which slowly opens the choke. Now there is also a version like this where they put a tube down into the crossover on the intake. So the exhaust gas is pushed around this tube. The air inside of the tube heats up and that goes up into a "cap" on the carburator where the thermo spring is at. Manual I like best. You remove all of this thermo spring stuff and run a cable from inside the vehicle to the carb. When you pull the cable, the choke is on. When you push the cable, the choke is off. If you have ever used an old snowblower or lawnmower, they often times use chokes like this. Very simple and I like being in control of what I'm choking! Or who for that matter!
