Since you have a gas engine, probably easier to buy an aftermarket kit that includes everything. Unless you were planning on doing a gut the cab redo, there are a lot of under dash differences between heat only and AC trucks. The vacuum plumbing operated air handling system for one. IIRC, the firewall itself is different.

79vette - good to know on the vintage air in a M1009. I have a M1008 that I may consider adding AC to at some future point.
