Years ago I shortened my 1968 LWB truck using the instructions I found on this site. Now I'm finally back to working on the project and realized the cutting process removed the bumper bracket mounting holes. Does anyone have any instructions \ photos that would help out?

Short of using the original cut off pieces/ends as a good template, I would mount the brackets to the bumper & snug them down enough to loosely 'install' the bumper on the rails. Use a jack or some sort of cribbing to set the bumper where you feel it looks right to/for you & then mark the holes for drilling.

This is how I'm doing my '64 (the body is actually sitting on a '68 lwb frame that was cut down to swb dimensions w/some additional mods). I even modified the bumper brackets some to work 'better' for my needs.

If you cut the frame down, this approach will be easy enough to get the bumper hung.

I made a drawing from my cut offs for you. This is passenger side, but drivers is mirrored....

Funny enough, on the 1968 that I cut, it had the holes for the bumper brackets already present after cutting the 8? inches off the back of the frame. So, I didn't need to drill new ones.

I'm sure someone else has a drawing posted on this message board for these holes, but my quick search couldn't find one.

yep my 68 frame was like that. So was a 71 and a 72 that we have cut down in the past. The holes were already there.

I believe there are templates for this very thing. I think Brother's trucks manufactures them.

Based on the other posts, it sounds like the holes should still be in my frame even though it’s shortened. I wonder if I have the wrong brackets. I took a picture, but I’m not rue how to post it.
