Need help for wrecker rear suspension
Hello everyone
I have a wrecker conversion on 1979 Chevy C30 stepside. I installed a wheel lift on it and works fine, but rear suspension should be stiffer. Beacause when I tried to pick up my K5 , the whole rear end of the truck went to the ground!! My truck has 10 leaf springs and 5 overload leaves. What should i do? How many leaves should I add ? How many leaves the original factory C30 wreckers has ? My leaf springs: Thanks

Re: Need help for wrecker rear suspension
I had a 78 4x wrecker with the same leaf pack. I never had any issues with it "going to the ground" and I occasionally picked up quad cab diesels. So to answer the question, I would look at having the spring pack rebuilt OR add air bags to it so you can control the height. This was mine.

Re: Need help for wrecker rear suspension
Thanks. I had to pull it off the road when good ol' California changed the weight requirements on wreckers. I used it around my property pull logs and such for a couple of years before I sold it. The wheel lift that was on this truck found a home on the back of my '68 Longhorn.
