K10 locking hub question

For the Spicer hub lok on the K10 and K5 applications, it appears Spicer made two versions. The "face tooth" design was used on the 70-72 models. Then sometime later, the "sliding tooth" design was used.

Do both styles work on an otherwise factory-stock 70-72 K10 or K5?

Is either style considered more robust than the other?

Re: K10 locking hub question

My experience (lots of extreme wheeling) is that both work in the same hub. I have had one on one side and the other on the other side. One has bigger cogs iirc but I have never noticed a difference in strength or heard about a difference.

I think the sliding tooth is stronger that the face. GM went entirely sliding tooth in the following years as well as all the after market
