KickPanel Vent Info/Help
I replaced the factory AC in my 85 with Vintage Air. In doing so, I lost the PS floor vent that was tied to the OEM AC system. My truck did/does not have a DS vent, only the plastic kickpanel cover.
I want to add factory style manual vents in the kickpanels. It seems to be a little confusing to say the least when looking at different websites. I know for a fact I can restore the passenger side with a manual vent. And I found a set on ebay that has both PS and DS. My question is: On the DS, is there a provision (Hole) behind the plastic cover for a factory vent or will I have to make a cutout in the metal to fit one? Is this a fundamental difference in factory AC vs Non AC cabs? |

Re: KickPanel Vent Info/Help
I jus did the same with my 86 with vintage air. The truck didn't have AC and I left both vents in the kick panels. Now as far as if an AC cab has there hole, ill see if I can look at one of my other trucks.

Re: KickPanel Vent Info/Help
You should probably take off your cover and look.

Re: KickPanel Vent Info/Help
I did not think of that.
Here's a picture of an 85 K5 with a/c. Looks like no.

Re: KickPanel Vent Info/Help
Thanks. I just stopped by my truck and unscrewed the panel. It looks just like the picture you posted. Well damn, looks like I'll be cutting a hole for it. It's tight down there, probably have to use my air powered body saw. Stay tuned!
