found a 69

if this goes thru it will be my first truck in a looong time. i've found what looks like a 1969 3/4 ton, 2WD, 8 lug, and i think full floating rear, 8' bed, CST. some rust in the usual places and a little missing trim. interior is there but rough, frame is solid. pretty a much unmolested pickup, not bad for the east coast. guy wants the engine and tranny all i have to do is make an offer. i'm thinking $1,000 or less. but i am unsure and was hoping some of you might have better idea than i.
-thanks

I don't know about back east but around here a truck with rust, rough interior, and no engine or tranny unless it had nice sheet metal I might take it for free. I just past up a simular truck no rust, blown head gasket, work truck body guy wanted $250.

heh, I just paid $500 for a truck that has a brand new machine shop fresh 283 and a tranny shop fresh th350, in it. The totals on the tranny and engine were over 2 grand. The downside was, the truck needs rockers, cab corners, fender patches, a new bed floor, floor pans. I did get new rockers, corners and some other new things with it tho.

well I bought a truck that I thought was decent, but it turns out all I am using is one front fender the whole rolling chassis and the box( which I shouldn't be keeping) and I paid $1700 for the truck, that guy likely laughed alll the way to the bank. But thanks to dubie I received a Drivers front fender, cab which needed rockers and corners, and seats and other misc all for free. It all depends on what the truck is worth to you, I'm the kid of guy who can't wait for something to go on sale I buy it right now. I'm not very good at bickering either, but the wife sure can Or is it dicker well whatever
