Repro core supports: How do they compare?
How do the reproduction core supports compare to the originals, in terms of metal thickness?

Re: Repro core supports: How do they compare?
Any updates regarding the quality of these? I purchased a new core support and inner fenders tonight for a customer's truck. I believe they are Tri-plus products. There will be too many hours needed to save and paint the originals.

Thanks! That's a pretty decent report. The time it's going to take to repair the rust in all three of these pieces will far exceed the cost of new. I appreciate hearing the feedback!

Re: Repro core supports: How do they compare?
Happy to help on the core support. I'm no help on the inner fenders though as I am still running some factory ones

Re: Repro core supports: How do they compare?
These aren't terrible at first glance. Just a couple of areas needing patched and one area that's buckled. I can report back when I get the new ones in hand. These originals are heavy for sure. I ordered the rubber edging from GMC pauls.

Re: Repro core supports: How do they compare?
I forget now where I saw it, but I believe someone makes a patch for the inner fenders that repairs the top front that is always rusty. Could be an option if you don't like the fit of the aftermarket inner fenders

Re: Repro core supports: How do they compare?
Interesting. I wish our blaster was big enough to get these pieces into. That's the other major time sink.

I bought an aftermarket core support and have not installed it yet but a side by side with the original some of the angles are slightly different. I'm probably going to fix my original one and use the aftermarket one on my 62 cause that one is probably beyond repair. |

Re: Repro core supports: How do they compare?
I did a Tri-Plus tailgate and thought it was good. I still do, it's working out well. I did a review on it in case it interests you. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=822249 hopefully their core support won't disappoint either.
