compressor clutch

My 4 year old rebuilt compressor clutch sometimes doesn't want to engage the compressor. Tapping on it with a screwdriver handle always makes it come on, WD40 makes it come on every time for a while. Is there an adjustment I can make or is it on it's way out?

Remove the clutch. There should be a small washer, spacer or shim on the backside. Remove the shim and reinstall. Just keep the clearance within tolerance levels. I think 0.021 ~ 0.026 inches. I would check a book to be sure.
