Adding a clock to 70 dash

It looks like the 73-79 clock or the 81-87 clock can be retrofitted into the 70's style C10's.
They differ in the placement of the knob used to set the time.
Both are available aftermarket.
I am planning on installing one into my truck but am wondering which on works best for the transplant. I am including pictures of both below;

Early 73-79 has the time reset on the top of the clock.

Prefer the factory vacuum gauge or air pressure gauge myself in in the blank location. Both pictured would require drilling the lense. I would wager that the one to left with the adjustment knob closer to the center would be a better choice to avoid interference with the dash bezel. If you want a clock Dakota Digital has a nice instrument cluster with a clock in the factory tach position.

For the cool factor - buy a 70's era clock that sits on your dash - some have a magnetic back and can be put on he dash.

I have this one I was going to use but plans changed , tin ready to build a tic toc / tach cluster , new clock and wiring new chrome knob ,I have a used lens with it to use to mock up before you drill your good lens , I can list it on the parts board if your interested ?

I have done this before. It's a slick mod like what might have been done from factory, as seen in cars and the next design of trucks. I'd rather see an engine gauge added under or on the dash, which is also an era correct thing. I haven't been doing clocks in the dash, though, since carrying a cell phone. No need to wear a watch, either. A clock in the dash is a touch of luxury car in your truck

I don't have a pic handy but I retrofitted the "QUARTZ" clock out of a square body years ago.

AND DO NOT DRILL! On this message board years ago somebody suggested taking a nail, lock it in a vise grip, heat it up with a propane torch or whatever you got handy, then melt a hole for the knob. Worked like a champ. Slickest idea ever. I fear cracking 50 year old plastic with a drill bit.

One more note. I have my truck in an unattached building where I keep all my toys (Chevelles, boats, snowmobile, ATV, etc.) When I open the door I hear one thing. That clock ticks REALLY LOUDLY.

Here are a couple I've done. One with a OE tach and quartz clock added. One with clock only. The quartz clocks are quiet. No ticks.

Thanks everyone for the information and tips. I purchased Grumpy's setup. I have to pull my dash to replace the fuel gauge anyway. I have already installed the volt gauge. I just like the look of the clock. And yes I even wear a watch. I am not overly concerned if it even keeps time. But with quartz internals I suspect it might.
Question for FirstOwner69. Did you replace the temp gauges or somehow repaint the originals? The temp gauge is my only complaint as the red is faded on the temp gauge on my dash.

Some fifty years ago my dad installed a clock in his 70 K20. I did the same thing in my Burban.

That is a floor clock without a console from a 67 or 68 camaro. I had the face changed from a kit brothers sells i believe so the lettering matches the gauges.

The clock i bought was a 67 camaro floor clock and I took the face off this clock kit and swapped clock faces. When I bought this kit it was considerably cheaper than it is now. https://www.cjponyparts.com/clock-co...RoCAdMQAvD_BwE
