What did you get done....?

Ok guys and gals was it a productive weeke/weekend for you? Did you get any thing done one your truck or was it all just honey do's or yard work? What did you get done?

Friday night I went to dinner with friends so not much got done. Saturday was pretty productive though. I got up early and took my Dodge to get the oil changed. I went by Wally world and picked up fresh detail supplies. After a bit of yard work, I got a chance to clean the 77 up.

I spent the afternoon detailing it from top to bottom. Since the weather was so nice I decided to take it out for a cruise. We went to a local cruise night hosted by the Woodlands Car Club. There were a ton of nice cars and trucks out. Me and my buddy drooled on all the hot rods all night.

Life is good.....

I finally got the stereo in and the seats permanently mounted.

Since it was tax free weekend, we also went shopping for school clothes. Ugh.

Worked my second job, went gambling (and lost), did some wiring on Yeller, and started dying my new(er) dash pad.

Pretty unproductive IMO truck wise. I wish there were more hours in the day, and Iwish I were motivated at times.

Got the stock springs back under the truck, and installed a tach and realized I can't just strap it to the lower part of the column on an auto tranny truck :p

spent Friday and Saturday sifting through my garage and my collection of parts, took them to a swap meet today, and didnt sell nearly what i thought i would, although i did get a good chunk of change. i'm really surprised that i didnt sell my 12 bolt for the $25 i was asking for it. the housing alone ought to be worth that.

Thurs. I picked my truck up from the exhaust shop. The frame is now ready for the body.

I picked up a set of bucket seats and console from a 96 fullsize. I looked at them all weekend trying to figure how I will get them to fit.

Also, went to the local GM dealer and got the paint code off the new GTO. Torrid Red is what I am going to paint my truck.

I also got a call from my parts guy and my doors came. I am planning on picking them up this week.

Finally got my brakes bled. All I can figure is the new line was vapor-locked. I took it loose to see if I had any fluid at the junction block b/c I was not even getting air to the wheel cylinders. No fluid there, so I crawled under the truck and took it loose at the connector right by the back of the cab, there was fluid there. My wife was helping me and asked "Is it supposed to be leaking back here now?" Hooked the lines back up and about 1/2 qt. later I now have full brakes.

Drove it here to my house, put the bed back on. Fixed a few wiring glitches and tested the tailights. I'm not sure how long my bed sat in the salvage yard, but all the bulbs work! I was really surprised. I think the tranny is still shifting too late. Still seems not to hit 2nd untill 30, and 3rd untill about 45 or so. Its so loud without exhaust that I cant really tell when I'm getting 4th, but its got to be around 60 or so. I guess I need to get a tach so I can know what the rpms are, but I just dont have the $$ anyone got one they would like to donate??

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! but school starts for me on August 16 so next weekend im gonna wash ol red, was it with that cool colored wax that works so well, and clean the interior. gotta PLP after school

I'm waiting for my 5.25" component speakers to get here thrusday and am also waiting on my qlogic kick panels which should arrive sometime in the future

Do they still make those kick panels or are we stuck having to look for a used set? I'm thinking of getting some, just wondering what they cost.

friday i worked and went out to dinner with my girlfriend. saturday i took placement testing for my engineering classes at osu. sunday i went out on the lake. after that i went to check out the progress on the truck. i might get it back sooner than i thought. and yes, i have been holding back pics. i cant wait to show you guys the final product. just to let you know ken, your're a rep WHORE!!!

took out interior, put my 12s in my box and mounted the box, put just the seat in and started working on the center console like swerve has. thoes templets are a HUGE help! thanks alot, i gotta thrash cause i've got 3 days to get all of that crap together and rebuild a transmission and put it in my truck, this is #3! (3rd case, 5th time transmission been out of the truck)

Nothing, it was 115 degrees outside and 124 in my garage

it's now 11:55 pm pst and still 104 / 110

So just went to the pool after sundown and spent some quality
A/C time inside.

Didnt' even touch the 75. Got in the 88 Burb to get a spare bulb out of the center consol. They have both sat all weekend. Both in good shape.

Did finnaly find what was wrong with my 86 Toyota 4runner. There are some real idiots in the world that call themselves mechainic and machinests.

The truck is fuel injected 4cyl with a 22RE 2.4 liter motor with miltiport fuel injection. 195,000 miles on it still has mid to high 160psi on all 4 cylinders. Got the truck cheap because it had a run problem and 4th gear was out. One of these trucks in same body condition no major problems and same miles will fetch $2500 pretty easy. I got it for $1400 and that includes a $500 soft top. I rebuilt the 5 speed for $200. but have not been able to get it to run right.

Syptoms have been poor idle, plugs are all wet with fuel, occasional O2 light, breaks up and missies badly at steady cruise. Would acclerate ok.
THe TPS was bad for sure so it was replaced. Thought it had a bad timing chain so I replaced that. Of course all the stuipd stuff like cap, wires rotor, plugs SET TIMINGING <---remeber that.

Started questioning the AFM and cleaned it and adjusted it. That got it to idle but still did not run right. Just got pissed and decided to start throwing parts at it. Replaced the ECM temp sender, Was going to buy a Coldstart injector timer sender till I found out they were $150! Replaced the sender for the gage (I knew it was bad). Did not effect the problem at all. Started unplugging stuff like Knock sensor...Hmmm got better but still not right.

Loosend the distributor hold down advnaced the timing while hoding 3k and it got worse. Ohhhhh first thing I have done that made anyu big change. Retard the timing and it clears up. So I just keep retatding till I am alomosto ut of adjustment. To get much more I will have to pull the distributor up and move it over a tooth on the gear. I put the timing light on it and instead of the 5 deg BTDC I am at about 3deg ATDC.

I remembered when I pulled the harmonic ballancer seeing a few marks on the ballancer and the pullys.

Toy crank bolts are REAL bad about getting very tight. So tight that I have put a peice of 2x2 trailer hitch over a 24 inch breaker bar put the car in 4th choked all 4 wheels on my Supra and leaned on my now 5ft long breaker bar to get them loose. When it came loose it sounded like a 22cal going off and I thought I broke the front off the crank.

Well some poop stain of a mechanic apparently thought it would be a great idea to grab that ballancer by the outer ring and hold it while trying to get that bolt off and they managed to slip the outher ring that has the timing mark on it. So this week I will make a piston stop and find true TDC so I can time it right.

Only thing I did related to the GM trucks was lined up some stock rallys for the 75 to throw some cheap used 33's on it so I can keep my 35's. Still need to line up a pair of cheap stock axles so I can sell my 4.10 locked axles and recoupe some costs.

Keep an eye on the for sale boards. I will have a lot of 4x4 goodies listed soon includins a se of warn shafts with CTM's and a 4 core radiator.

went to ALL TRUCK Carlisle weekend ,and other than the time I spent with my son and good conversation within neighboring truck coral persons, the weekend was disappointing. I don't say that just because I didn't sell the truck, but the the picture perfect weather didn't even drag the people out. there was just no one there for what i have seen in past years. The pepole that were there all left their wallets at home. I handle tire kickers pretty well, but they didn't even come. Only a handfull of people even complimented the truck. go figure?? DAVE

Hot August Nights & My Weekend

Clutch bellcrank (lever) went totally south (dangling under the truck!). But, PicknPull had one I was able to completely over-engineer and re-fit.

Took the kids to Hot Aug Nites Virginia Street Show & Shine Friday. Went to the drags Friday - what a zoo. Tons of cars racing. No suprise with H A N in town. Saturday, finished the clutch, Went to the H A N Parts swap - Not a lot of truck stuff. But did load up on engine dress. Did A&W Saturday dusk and saw a sweet 69 4x4. Local guy, too. Never got the chance to say hi tho. Also saw a late 60's Datsun P/U - stretched chassis, Mid engine blown mini truck. Sticker on it claims "10's All Day Long"

Thursday evening, I went with one of my cousins to pick up his "new" 1972 LTD with a 400/2bbl and 113,000+ miles. Don't know exactly what was going through his mind on this one, but oh well.

Friday evening, I took the wife to dinner and then to a local presentation of "Chicago". I didn't know what to expect, but it was a very good show.

Saturday morning, I got up to near record low temperatures (67 degrees at 8:00 AM in August in Arkansas - unheard of). I mowed my grass and then pressure washed both of my decks, then I took the 76 to get it cleaned up. Saturday afternoon, I went to the church for a fish fry and some horseshoe pitching.

Did the church thing on Sunday morning, napped during NASCAR on Sunday afternoon, and then did the church thing again Sunday evening.

If you put the tach between the steering wheel and shifter it wont move when you shift, thought it will move when you adjust the tilt if equiped with such. This is exactly where i have mine. It blocks part of the gas gage but nothing important i can still see the gas part, just covers up the idiot lights.
