Re: Carburetor Repacement Choice
Thanks to all who chimed in here - and especially for the first hand experiences as well and the detailed tech info in some cases. Folks like you make this site worthwhile for a guy who truly needs info/advice. I will sort, purchase, and be all set. Thanks again.

Re: Carburetor Repacement Choice
Too bad Edelbrock quit making the quadrajet. I bought one years ago. Exact duplicate of original. Looks stock and runs great. Brother in law just bought a quadrajet off Amazon for just over 200. Hasn't installed it yet. Film at 11.

Re: Carburetor Repacement Choice
Oh boy!
I'm firmly in the Quadrajet camp and in most cases that's what I recommend. If you decide to go that way I have a fair amount of information on set up and tuning in my Burban repair thread below.

Re: Carburetor Repacement Choice
hi guys I agree q-jet. I have 3 gm cars and my truck with them. they are not that hard to work on and the results are really good. over the years I,ve read the books by doug roe and cliff ruggles. if you can learn to take off the air horn
(top) they are pretty easy. cliff even has a forum on his site and will answer questions. good luck, chuck |
