Rear Speakers In Stock Location Whats Everyone Else Doin?

I am about to purchase 4 new speakers for my 85C20 i have decided on some blaupunkt 3 1/2s for the front

But im undecided for the rear it came with 4x10s THE P.O Has cut the brackets out for a 6" speaker i assume
I had some 4x6 in there and they worked pretty well but I want something that will sound good and fit relativley right.

Has anyone put 6x9s back there? Ive heard that 4x10s dont sound good nor can i find any good ones

Opinions ? Suggestions? Prior exp?

Kenwood & Pioneer make a nice 4X10, which is far-far better than the stock OEM one. Get a kickpanel speaker assembly, use a Kicker 5.5 and tweeter, a power amp, sub woofer, and use the two 4X10's and you should be a rock'n.

I have looked at them kickpanel setups in lmc I woulndt buy one with them cheap jappy speakers in it Id rather buy and empty one and put my own high dollar jappy speaks in it. LoL

I was thinking of getting some new 3.5s for the dash get some 4x10s or something for the stock rear location and get a good audiobahn DVC 12 for the bump and possibly a set of highs undecided on that yet.

I was thinking of getting a 4 channel amp to run fronts and rears and then use An Amp i have for the sub.

the only 2 speakers i have in ol red is a set of Pioneer TS6970R three way 6x9s, and im getting an amp in november. maybe after i finish the rest of the truck ill add a couple 10s, but if the 6x9s get just slightly better bass with an amp over the head unit, then ill pass on subs.

I have a pair of 6x9s in boxes behind the seat, I don't like to use anything less than 5.25's usually because I don't like where they mount in the dash and don't like them very small. I'm planning on keeping a set of 6x9s in boxes behind the seats, then some kick panel speakers, and a couple 10" subs or so.

I am running two 5- 1/2 Pioneers under the dash pointing
straight down at floor and two tweeters on the pillers at dash level.

Two 6x9's and two 8" subs pushed by two Pioneer amps behind
the seat.

oh, no they are not in stock location. I cut out a hole in my lower door towards the front of the truck. Looks great and sounds great; the grill is even grey which matches the greying of my interior from red. I'd post a pic but the stupid thing tells me pics only 100 K; no such thing as a 100 K pic

I had 2 10's in a box behind the seat, with 5 1/4 inch seperates in the dash. The tweeters were in the 3.5 locations, and the 5 1/4's in the center spot. I was running it with a 45x4 amp, with 2 channels bridged for the subs. The system sounded pretty good, and was hidden pretty well.

I recently just upgraded my system. Pioneer MP3 deck w/ 3 1/2 Pioneer front speakers (in dash) with bass blockers (a definite buy with 3 1/2 makes them sound great!) newly installed 4 way Pioneer 6X9s and a 300 watt amp powering 2 MTX 8". I would love to get 2 10" and another amp and hook the 6X9s up to the current amp - that would be my ultimate system. I'm happy with my sytem now.

yeah i can't decide between 3 8s (harder hitting) or 2 10s (deeper bass); i doubt 10s are gonna be extremely deeper than 8s, and 8s are cheaper. 3 8s is a popular setup and my cousin said he had 3 8s in a ported box, so i'll probably do that.

No. The original owner bought aftermarket replacements brackets for the stock parts. You can modify your originals to accept 6X9 speakers.
