Two tone paint divider cab to body
Factory did it with a thin strip of aluminum. Anybody do a thin paint stripe or something along those lines as a two tone cab top to body paint divider? Pics?
And while Im asking about stripes, could you get the factory side pinstripe as stand alone? Or was the lower body chrome part of that?

Re: Two tone paint divider cab to body
Tried to replicate the factory stripes. My truck came with them from the factory. It was a stand alone deal. No other trim. I think it would look good with a tasteful stripe instead of the stainless divider.

Re: Two tone paint divider cab to body
I've seen several 2 tones with a pin stripe for a divider and it always looks like something is missing to me. I have thought about doing a 2 tone on mine and doing an airbrush chrome divider strip. It would probably cost more that adding the real strip but I wouldn't have to drill any holes in the cab or welding messing up the paint.

Re: Two tone paint divider cab to body
I had mine airbrushed. Not for everyone, but I like it.
The one thing I learned is that the color break should be a the bottom of the airbrushed area, and the airbrushing be done prior to clearing the paint. Patrick Maxwell, Maxwell Auto Designs, out of The Woodlands, TX. did the work. Hope this helps. |

Re: Two tone paint divider cab to body
Love the dark green and stripe! I was thinking to divide by putting a body color stripe about a quarter of an inch up from the bottom of the white. So body color, a little bit of white cab roof color, a body color strip, and the rest white. Also having a white factory style stripe down the side like Smitty has.
Zero that does look pretty darn nice.

Re: Two tone paint divider cab to body
The trim is stainless. I'm sure I've seen a stripe done or just a well masked division of color and I'm sure it looked fine. Someone could airbrush the trim on, too. But might cost more than adding the mounts and trim. There are rivet-mounts for painted trucks
My thing with two-tone is it goes with trim or no go. Trim and two-tone means "fancied up" and that calls for trim. If I want no trim I go solid color. I like solid color customs. Two-tone is a way to doll up an original truck. I only do wheels or other small things like chrome exhaust tips on two-tones. Keep the original element.

CG, the color is Kindig It Cool Clay.
The color has a lot of "flop". It looks quite different in different lighting. Here is another pic. |

Re: Two tone paint divider cab to body
I've thought about a pinstripe divider on mine. Met a local gentleman with a 65 C20 who did that, and it looked pretty good to me

Re: Two tone paint divider cab to body
I just painted it with no accent stripe on the 68 . My 72 also has no trim and it’s a factory complex two tone although the paint is special order .

Re: Two tone paint divider cab to body
No. That was part of the 2-tone top thing. But the trim looks great on a solid paint truck. The side trim looks great on a solid truck. With 2-tone the trim is a divider between colors, a little something extra. But on solid paint it is stand out trim you fully appreciate. Way less busy yet more trimmed out.

Re: Two tone paint divider cab to body
I just painted my 70 cab. No experience required. I'm going to use the chrome trim on the back of the cab.
