Does anyone know if the 71/72 C10 fleetside tailgate that has the band also have the Chevrolet letters underneath the band?

All factory tailgates have the letters underneath the bands

I may be misreading your post, but all letters are in the tailgate band and in the tailgate themselves. The band covers up the original letters. I read it as can you have a blank band and exposed letters under band area. In that case, no they did not.

I was asking if the ones that came with the band from factory also had Chevrolet stamped in the tailgate. I have a 67 that I've been trying to find a tailgate for and found one off of a 72 Cheyenne that has the band, so wanted to make sure before I purchased that it had the letters stamped underneath the band since I won't be using the band. Thanks.

In that case as long as it is not an aftermarket tail gate, the yes letters are there. Some aftermarket do not have the letter, but all GM originals do.

Good info here. But I have a question from the other angle. I have a CST blazer that will need a new tailgate and I want the band. I always assumed the band would fit over the tailgates they sell without the embossed letters on the tailgate. Is my assumption correct? Guess I’m just hoping I don’t have to pay the premium price for the officially licensed tailgate just to cover up the reason it’s more expensive.

^^^ Yes, it will fit. The letters are just a stamping, no other differences
