71 Blazer- whats it worth?

I know a guy that would probably sell me his 71 K5 Blazer but I dont have a clue what it is worth, please help. It has a rebuilt 350 that has 20,000 miles on it but it already blows smoke bad (the bad blue kind). Has very little rust, mostly rockers, and on the floor under the door. Has a large dent behind the driver door. Some scratches on front and rear driverside and passanger side. Paint has a few issues as well (cracking and peeling beginning) Passanger door has real problems closing, where the latch meets the door binds up. Interior is good. Good tires. Factory wheels. Please help, he has a history of changing his mind quickly.

ON THE PASSENGER DOOR, CHECK THE ROCKER BOXES UNDERNEATH THE
DOOR SILLS, THEY ARE BAD ABOUT RUSTING OUT, THIS MIGHT BE WHY
IT IS BINDING, THE DOOR THAT IS, OR JUST BAD OR OLD HINGES, W/O
ANY PIC'S THIS IS TUFF, COULD BE WORTH ANYWHERE FROM 0-$5000.00.
BLAZERS ARE A LITTLE DIFFERENT WHEN IT COMES TO PRICING, SOME
PEOPLE ARE WILLING TO PAY MORE THAN OTHER, I'M SURE THAT OTHERS
WILL JUMP IN AND GIVE THEIR OPINIONS ALSO, GOOD LUCK, MY $.02

Need pics. That would help alot. The rocker boxes probably are gone. I'd say 1500.00-2800.00. Depends on what it has. Factory tach? Tilt? Is the top in good shape? Etc.

Blazer

As posted above, pics help allot.
As far as the door goes, look at the body lines not how the door operates, are they even close to lining up? Latches/hinges can be fixed/adjusted, look at the door/body alignment to start with.
On the rust, poke around with a small screwdriver in the suspect areas like the lower kick panel/door pillar locations. Also check the firewall behind the brake booster and the cowl sections on the sides...all possible rust areas. Don't forget the rear bed floor and wheel well housing's either...
CHECK THE TORSION BOXES!! These are now reproduced and are a must if you intend on taking the top off.
WORTH? Whatever he can get for it but if it was me buying it...$1500.00 would be the max because from the sounds of it, you'd have allot of work to do just to get it (safely) drivable having both engine and body work to do.
OK, that's my $.02 of hot air...sounds bleak but remember it's a blazer, everybody should be so lucky...the real question is what's it worth to YOU?

thanks everyone for your help, i am going to try to get over to it today and take some pics, so i will try to get them on tonight or tomorrow, hopefully this will help everyone out with giving me information. Also are the torsion boxes the flat metal parts that are under the truck towards the outside connecting to the rockers??

Heres a couple pics of what the rocker boxes are supposed to look like. They weld up to the bottom front of the fire wall and bolt to the bulkhead area of the bed.
Heres Gee Emms ride.

Torsion Boxes

Here's the boxes as they look under a tub...
First one is passenger side lookig from the front towards the rear.
Second one is drivers side from underneath looking from the rear forward.
This tub has been sectioned at the floor joint behind the firewall...in case you are wondering.
WOW, G's come a long way since those pics...nice work!

The most important areas to check are the windshield frame and the bed floor. Everything else can be fixed easily. Pull back the rubber around the inside of the windsheild and check for rust, try and to a poke test with a sharp object if you get a chance.

I would offer 3000 for it. The reason the passenger door is having problems is the inner door piller and kick pannel is probably rusted out withch means check the window frame on the top passenger side as best you can if it is rusted out you will have a hard time geting it fixed. Slide the top back and take a good look at it make sure its not a bondo job making it look good. I payed 5000 for mine and If I would have looked at the hidden body work that I didnt know blazers had I would have offered a lot less. the good thing with me was the engine was new and still under warrenty when I got it.

Now the guy has seemed to fall off the edge of the earth, he is never home, he has no answering machine, and his cell phone has been turned off. He is making it very difficult on me to make him an offer. Oh well,if it is ment to be then it will be right???
