exhaust manifold milling
1949 chevy truck 5.3 engine mustang 11 front end need clearance for exhaust manifolds . any used angle milling of exhaust manifold with good results . If so how much to cut or mill for good clearance?

The exhaust manifolds from the 5.3/6.0 Trailblazer/Envoy/Rainier (don't fall for the TBSS hype, their all the same) will sit about an inch closer to the engine, than the stock truck manifolds

look at some used 2010 Camaro manifolds...they tuck in tighter to the engine and have a 2 bolt flange....
these are mine but this is on a '67

I assume you mean you want to face off the manifold surface where it contacts the head????...not angle mill
Is that right..?... if so you could only do a minimal cut before youd get the flange to thin...and you wouldn't gain much that way anyhow... one of the options above might work..not sure how much clearance your looking for.. Also dont be afraid to do a frame notch for clearance..if you reinforce the area you cut out itll be fine

You want to angle mill the surface from O to 10 thousands from top 0 to bottom 10 thou. mine cleared perfect .

5.3 with early c5 manifolds. works perfect plus they have the 02 sensor plugs
