WOW, that's a beauty. Me, I don't know, had , my 400 rebuilt at 1700ish. Years later I drove it the first time and fail. No reverse, the new transmission shop said the former filed down the reverse pin, rod or something like. Anyway, they rebuilt it again with a "better" torque converter, because the former was supposedly bad too. Celebrating my OEM 4K with towing expenses

If an automatic is rebuilt without replacing the old torque convertor it's like peeing into the wind. That is how I was taught by an amazing transmission genius. Often it is a bad convertor that causes a transmission to fail. Not in your case, with the transmission just sitting as well as on obvious issue caused by the prior rebuilder

I felt as bad about having to this beauty go as I'd feel letting the woman of my dreams go. TH400/NP205

True story, and got to keep those juices flowing. I've discovered how parts just sitting around is just asking for trouble. For example, the new when installed o-ring on the trans. dipstick tube went sour too, leaked badly. My transmission after the first rebuild

I only hand polished.

Yep, input and output seal dry out and start leaking from sitting. Never used or a truck parked a prolonged period
